The Houston Marathon is the largest single-day sporting event that Houston has to offer. There is a distance for everyone at this event with the Marathon, Half Marathon and 5km event. In 2007, the race was run via satellite simultaneously in Fallujah, Iraq, to include the troops. Named separately, the Chevron Houston Marathon and the Aramco Houston Half Marathon courses are both officially certified by the Road Running Technical Council of USA Track & Field, which allows them to qualify runners for the Boston Marathon. 

The course remains the standard for many USA Olympic qualifying trials with reason. This event is held at the perfect location to hold a vast number of athletes and has the most excellent weather conditions to please just about anyone. If you are looking for an exciting race, to see Houston on foot, and to be cheered on by the locals, this is one of the best marathons in the United States to compete in. Regardless if you are an amateur or elite, this is one not to miss.
